This initiative is targeted at consumers and promotes sustainable choices, including choosing FSC-certified products.

During the Mugello and Misano Grands Prix 2018 FSC-certified companies provided information sheets, notepads, recycling bins and totems, all made from sustainably sourced paper or cardboard.

"Major events are key moments to shine a light on the importance of sustainable daily habits, such as the use of FSC-certified products,” explained Diego Florian, FSC Italy Director. “Of course, big events mean big challenges, but it's nice to know that forests can be such a powerful engine for positive change.”

The Grand Prix was not the only event to benefit from the KiSS initiative. In October 2018, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme also promoted the KiSS initiative with their booth at Intermot Cologne, one of the biggest motorcycles fairs in Europe. This was an opportunity to further promote sustainable procurement practices at motorcycling events.

For 2019 FSC Italy confirmed its continuing partnership with the KiSS initiative to develop and promote procurement of FSC-certified products for Mugello and San Marino e Riviera di Rimini Moto Grands Prix events.

The goal for 2019 is to increase the supply of sustainable materials, by providing products such as paper for the media center, wooden benches and platforms for information points, paper cutlery and dishes.

“It has been a great pleasure to start the cooperation with FSC Italy within the KiSS Mugello and KiSS Misano programmes last year,” stated Luca Guzzabocca, General Manager of Right Hub (the coordinators of KiSS and member of the Sustainable Event Alliance*). “We had the opportunity to add significant value to our wide range of initiatives in order to raise environmental awareness across operators and spectators. We look forward to doing much more in 2019 with the help of FSC Italy.”
